Due to the initial appearance and symptoms, a high pressure injury must not be underestimated. Immediate medical treatment is required as the type of injury has the risks of:

  • infection
  • permanent body damage
  • disfiguration
  • amputation
  • Or death.

Hands are a frequent site for high pressure injection injuries. Other sites can also include the head and neck.
